Shelves!

Now this is legit exciting. We got some new shelves!

You might think I'm exaggerating the case, or even being flippant. But no. These shelves are going to rock your world.

Old shelves: You struggle to find the wine of your desires. You get lost in the inconsistent shelf labyrinth which repeatedly points you to obscure ports in wooden boxes. You break a bottle. You end up buying the exact opposite of what you wanted, and never return to Rebsamen.

New shelves: You enter the store in total command. You immediately identify your Chardonnay of choice, collect six pristine bottles, pay, and exit. An unmatched buying experience.

Come check out our shelves!

Sorry for the long delay between posts! At Rebsamen, we've been working around the clock to make sure you have the best deals on wine, spirits, beer, and select grocery and miscellaneous items. We've amped up the craft beer selection and have some new high-end wines and specialty bourbons you should definitely try.

The big news around these parts is that we're about to have mats! Don't get too excited! These commercial-grade mats will allow you to clean your feet before entering the store. At Rebsamen, we are all about you, the customer, and these mats are a part -- a small part, we will admit -- of better serving you.

And Crown Royal Black 750 mL bottles, regularly $31.99, are going for just $25.99! What has gotten into us? Blame the Crown, I guess.

Also, 750 mL bottles of Elouan Pinot Noir are on sale for $16.96. If you're looking to stay warm this weekend, come by Rebsamen, take advantage of these great deals, and get cozy under a blanket made from the money that you'll have saved by shopping with us.

You've made a huge mistake

Let me guess how it went: You made big plans for Christmas. The day before, you considered last-minute items and realized you needed to get some wine. Alas, Christmas Eve was a Sunday, so no booze sales! You supposed you could go to Rebsamen early on Christmas, but - oh no - no booze sales on Christmas either! The result? A dry Christmas feast, which, while fine, is not what you had in mind. Grandpa is distraught.

Don't make the same mistake again for New Year's Eve, which is on a Sunday. Stock up early! Run, don't walk, to Rebsamen and pick up the Champagne, wine, vodka, or whatever else it is you need for your New Year's Eve get-together. Plan ahead. Don't be Dry Guy.

Out with the old, in with the new

Let's raise a glass to Chad Morris. Formerly SMU's head coach, Clemson's offensive coordinator, and a Dallas-area high school coach, the new head Hog brings a bold offensive mind and lots of Texas connections to Fayetteville. He also brings a stern look and a rock-solid jaw. He might not have as many jokes as Bert, but I think you can reasonably expect some more SEC wins.
Pairs with: Tito's vodka, Deep Eddy vodka

Let's pour one out for Bret Bielema. For all his failings - and there were many, from his inability to win SEC games, to his stagnant offense, to his failure to recruit and coach a decent offensive line, to his foolish feuds with other coaches, to his "lively" social exploits - consensus is that Bielema was a pretty decent guy underneath it all. He might not be missed, but he may be fondly remembered.
Pairs with: 8-10 Bud heavies

At Rebsamen, we are always trying to make the customer experience more aesthetically pleasing, as well as pleasing to the palate and the wallet. So we had a guy do some art! A friend of the store created some vines and grapes to spruce up our window displays. Now, when you look at our storefront, you won't just see our friendly faces, information about sales, and fine wines and spirits themselves. You'll also see vines and grapes.

Thanks for wine

Thanksgiving requires a lot of thought, planning, and preparation. As hectic as things get, it's a good idea to remember one of the most important parts of any great feast: the wine.

Turkey is a wonderfully flexible main course when it comes to wine pairings. It's light enough that white wine works, yet sturdy enough to be accompanied by a light red like a Pinot Noir or, my personal favorite, a Beaujolais. Since Thanksgiving is a celebratory feast, after all, it's a happy coincidence that Champagne and other sparkling wine goes great with turkey as well.

If your Thanksgiving involves red meat rather than turkey, you can always go for a heavier red like Cabernet Sauvignon.

Regardless of what you choose, make sure you put some thought into your wine selection. It can make the meal!

Fall into new flavors

There are few traditions more enjoyable than the start of fall beer season. The air is crisp. As you zip up your jacket and step outside into the blinding early evening sunlight, you might hear the distant sound of football pads cracking or little kids shrieking their way through a soccer game. With the slight chill in the air, sitting outside with friends is a perfect pastime. The jokes are a little funnier. The beers go down smooth, but you don't mind a little complexity around this time of year. Pumpkin, hops, warm red ales. That's the stuff. It's fall beer season, available at Rebsamen.
