After last week's delusional attempt to ban California wines in Arkansas -- which actually passed the state House -- it's over. The measure has been withdrawn and the Senate won't vote on it. California wines will continue to be available in Arkansas for the foreseeable future. The bill's sponsor, Dan Douglas, said full passage of the bill was unnecessary because the House vote sent a "message." If the message is that the Arkansas legislature will recklessly threaten its own wine-loving citizens and local businesses like Rebsamen Liquor in the interest of interstate saber-rattling... then yes, mission accomplished.
